ORCL: Oracle Application Server Completes Common Criteria Security Evaluation

Oracle today announced Oracle(r) Application Server 10g, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, has achieved Common Criteria (ISO/IEC 15408) Evaluation Assurance Level 4+ (EAL4+), the industry's most rigorous security assessment for commercially available software. Successful completion of the evaluation meets the purchasing criteria of many public sector organizations and agencies and further extends Oracle's portfolio of formally evaluated and third party-certified products.

Accepted by 24 governments worldwide, the Common Criteria evaluation assesses the security of a product against a published security target. The certification of Oracle products is critical to security-conscious customers. It is especially important to organizations that must comply with government-mandated procurement policies, such as the National Security Telecommunications Information Systems Security Policy #11 and the Department of Defense Directive 8500.1, which permit them to purchase only products that have successfully completed a Common Criteria evaluation.

"This evaluation marks Oracle's 23rd independent security evaluation and underscores our commitment to security," said Thomas Kurian, senior vice president, Server Technologies, Oracle. "Now, government agencies can enjoy the many benefits that Oracle Fusion Middleware delivers to more than 31,000 customers worldwide today."

Security evaluations are part of Oracle Software Security Assurance (OSSA). For additional information regarding OSSA visit: www.oracle.com/security.
