Borland Software Corporation (NASDAQ: BORL), the global leader for Software Delivery Optimization (SDO), announced that John F. Olsen was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for Borland Software on August 1, 2006. Mr. Olsen, a seasoned board member and Silicon Valley executive with more than 30 years experience in enterprise software and management consulting, joined the Borland board in February 2005. Mr. Olsen succeeds William Hooper as Chairman, who will remain a Borland Board member.

"I am excited to work more closely with John in his new role as Chairman to continue delivering value to shareholders, customers and partners."
Mr. Olsen was President and Chief Operating Officer of Business Objects, a provider of business intelligence solutions, from 2001 to 2004. During his tenure, Business Objects grew from $375M to more than $925M in revenue.
Mr. Olsen also has extensive experience in sales and management consulting, working across several continents, at companies such as Cadence Design Systems, Marimba and KPMG Peat Marwick. Mr. Olsen holds a Master of Science degree in Management Science from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University.
