JCOM: j2 Global Launches eFax Developer for Automated Production-Class Faxing

j2 Global Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: JCOM), the provider of outsourced, value-added messaging and communications services, today announced the official launch of eFax(R) Developer(TM), an XML-based fax service designed for businesses with high-volume fax requirements.

eFax Developer is a secure, reliable and powerful fax integration service that enables businesses to automate and streamline their fax processes without the need to purchase and maintain expensive servers, software and phone lines. eFax Developer provides all the benefits of an in-house system without the investment in internal expertise, resources and expense to maintain and operate such high-volume fax systems.

The new service leverages eFax's brand leadership, advanced technology base and established sales channels to further extend j2 Global's array of fax solutions for small to medium business and enterprise markets.

"eFax Developer is tailored for businesses that send or receive large volumes of faxes through back-office applications, which is common in the medical, financial, legal and insurance fields," said Mike Pugh, vice president of marketing for j2 Global. "With our market leadership and financial strength, j2 Global is a company customers can trust with their business critical functions. We are confident that these document-heavy enterprises can achieve significant cost reductions and productivity gains with eFax Developer."

How It Works

Outbound Faxes

Faxes are passed to the eFax Developer engine via SSL-encrypted HTTPS Web post and are then immediately delivered via fax. Fax status information is then automatically posted back to the sender's application. The eFax Developer system can also be queried to obtain the status of any fax, at any time.

Inbound Faxes

The eFax Developer service comes with a dedicated toll-free fax number for receiving inbound faxes. Once an inbound fax is received, it is securely passed to the client's application as a PDF or TIF image inside XML, along with associated "wrapper" data, such as date/time, number of pages, CallerID, etc. The service can also be used to capture barcode data from faxes, which is ideal for routing purposes or relational data tracking.

Developers can quickly and easily integrate eFax Developer into any application with the assistance of SDKs and developer tools provided with the service.

Pricing includes a one-time $49.00 activation fee and basic $49.00 monthly service fee, plus usage. Faxes are billed at a per page rate based on monthly volume.
