KE: Kodak Shows Digital Oncology Imaging System, Information Management Solutions at ASTRO

Eastman Kodak Company demonstrated its popular computed radiography system for radiation oncology imaging and its industry-leading KODAK CARESTREAM Information Management Solutions at the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) meeting this week.

The KODAK 2000RT CR Plus System is an innovative all-in-one CR solution for portal, simulation, and dosimetry quality assurance imaging that offers greater convenience than radiographic film and is more affordable than direct digital imaging technologies. In addition to its digital imaging solution, Kodak also offers information management solutions that enable oncology treatment centers to store and manage patient information, treatment plans and images captured by a variety of different systems - all from a central database.

KODAK CARESTREAM solutions equip users to integrate and archive oncology images with data from other clinical and non-clinical imaging and information systems to improve productivity and efficiency while reducing overall costs.

“Like other healthcare providers, most oncology treatment centers have patient information stored in several different systems and need a central architecture that links these systems together and provides centralized access and storage,” said Robin Hodownes, General Manager, Oncology Solutions, Kodak’s Health Group. “Facilities that install our information management solutions can achieve significant cost savings by eliminating the need for multiple storage systems.”

Kodak also announced that worldwide sales of its 2000RT CR Plus System are up more than 70 percent this year to date over the same time period in 2005, with more facilities purchasing multiple units to help them achieve a filmless workflow. Sales of the platform’s optional KODAK Radiation Oncology Beam Dosimetry Package have also been very successful.

Facilities in the United States that purchased multiple 2000RT CR Plus systems this year include: Intercommunity Cancer Centers (Leesburg, Fla.); Mayo Foundation (Rochester, Minn.); Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, (Houston, Texas); and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York, N.Y.). The 2000RT CR Plus system is marketed in 33 countries.
