Today, Oracle welcomed more than 41,000 attendees to Oracle(r) OpenWorld San Francisco, Oracle's global business and technology conference that opened this weekend and continues through Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Moscone Center. This year's show brings together Oracle's customers and partners to take part in the largest OpenWorld event yet. Oracle OpenWorld Online, the online version of this year's conference is expected to host an additional 100,000 participants during the course of the event.
Oracle OpenWorld's educational sessions and exhibitions are created to help business and IT professionals understand emerging trends, improve software execution and gain greater business insight to effectively compete in today's information age. Attendees this year will have access to more than 1,600 sessions, several hundred partner exhibitions, as well as numerous networking events and user-group activities designed around themes including Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Applications and Oracle Database and Grid infrastructure software.
"This is truly our biggest event in Oracle history and we're excited to host thousands of customers, partners and prospects at this year's conference," said Oracle Vice President Tania Weidick. "At OpenWorld, attendees will learn about the value of complete and open products in delivering competitive advantage for customers, Oracle's leadership in grid computing and service-oriented architecture, as well as how Oracle is helping customers and partners to obtain better information that leads to stronger business results."
Highlights of this year's conference include:
o Keynote addresses from Oracle executives including Charles Phillips, Chuck Rozwat, Thomas Kurian, John Wookey and Larry Ellison offering insight into how Oracle is helping companies better compete, execute and adapt;
o A world-class partner keynote series that includes industry leaders from AMD, Capgemini, Cisco Systems, Dell Inc., HP, Network Appliance, Inc. and Sun Microsystems, Inc.;
o An Exhibits 360-degree program featuring 420 partner booths including Oracle and Siebel exhibitors;
o Access to the Oracle DemoGrounds where attendees can discuss the innovative developments in Oracle Applications and Server Technologies and participate in interactive demonstrations and discussions with the experts who create the solutions;
o Industry-focused sessions highlighting 20 key industries and offering attendees the opportunity to see real-world deployments of Oracle infrastructure software and applications in specific industries; and
o Access to content via podcasts through OTN TechCasts, online audio interviews with Oracle technology experts about the latest products and technologies for developers and administrators.
